Kaylie Honz is the Internal Communications Manager at Signature Performance, an industry-leading provider of healthcare administrative solutions, and has been for almost five years. As a member of Signature’s Organizational Experience team, she also leads the charge for employee engagement and employee listening, and is always looking for ways to bring it all together for their team members. In her words, “You can’t be the voice if you’re not listening.”
For Kaylie and Signature Performance, internal communication isn’t just about keeping employees informed – it’s about creating a culture of connection, recognition, and engagement. With Workshop, the Organizational Experience Team has led a transformation, turning everyday communications into strategic tools that keep their nationwide team of over 1,200 employees engaged and aligned.
Building credibility through consistency and connection
“When I joined, we had a basic email communications tool. Now, with Workshop, we’re able to transform every message into something employees can rely on and trust…plus enjoy looking at!” said Kaylie. “Workshop lets us build on past messages with linked updates, so employees can keep track of changes. They’ll tell me, ‘Oh, I remember reading that!’ Those consistent touchpoints reinforce our credibility.”
Making automation personal
Using Workshop’s integration with ADP, Signature Performance has automated key touchpoints like birthdays, work anniversaries, and other personalized moments. “It used to be a manual process, but now, on the first of every month, Workshop sends a fun, celebratory email – it’s like, ‘Signature is the first to wish you a happy birthday this month!’ Those little details make a big impact,” she told us.
For the company’s annual Spirit Week, Workshop’s HRIS integration capabilities have enabled a whole new level of personalization for Kaylie and team. “With row segmentation based on hire dates (data fed from ADP), we customized emails to make new hires feel welcomed and returning employees excited. Messages like, ‘Welcome to your first Spirit Week!’ or ‘Welcome back to your favorite week of the year!’ made people feel seen,” she said.
Driving engagement with data-backed success
At Signature Performance, Workshop’s analytics tools provide critical insights that shape the team’s approach and show the success of their strategy. “Our open rate last quarter was 85%, which is really good,” she noted. But it’s not just about opens; it’s about real engagement. “We track everything from RSVPs to conversations that start because of our emails. When I hear people say, ‘You’re the one behind these updates!’ I know we’re hitting the mark.”
Empowering leaders and celebrating employees
Empowering managers is a central focus for Kaylie’s communications strategy. “With our dedicated manager newsletter, we reach a 92% open rate, which tells us that our managers are not only informed but are helping us spread our culture in their teams,” she said.
Each month, Signature’s celebration emails highlight personal stories, milestones, and employee photos. “Our executives are big on storytelling, so we make sure to spotlight employee journeys and accomplishments. Seeing their own or a colleague’s photo in the email creates a real sense of connection,” she added.

Workshop has proven to be an essential ally in fostering a connected, informed, and engaged team. “Investing in tools like Workshop isn’t just smart; it’s essential.
