Add emojis and column borders — right in the modern editor

Sometimes the thing that makes an email feel yours is a small one — a wink of an emoji in a headline, a clean border that gives a section its own space. Two things you’ve been asking for are live in the modern editor now, and both are the kind of detail that makes your emails look a little more polished without any extra work.

What’s new

• An emoji picker, built right in. You can now drop emojis straight into your email from a built-in picker — no copying and pasting from somewhere else, no hunting through keyboard shortcuts. Open the picker, find the one you want, and it’s in. Perfect for a friendly headline, a section break with a little personality, or a celebratory note that actually feels celebratory. 🎉
• Colored borders on columns. You can now add colored borders to any column, so you’ve got more control over layout and visual structure. Use them to box off a callout, separate two side-by-side sections, or give a block of content its own frame. It’s a simple way to bring more definition to a design — and it works in both emails and Pages.

Where this helps

Think of the emails where a little structure goes a long way: a monthly newsletter with a few distinct sections, a benefits update where you want one box to really stand out, or an all-hands recap that’s easier to skim when each topic has its own frame. Column borders give those layouts shape. And the emoji picker is there for the moments you want your comms to feel human — a birthday shout-out, a team win, a “we did it” after a big push.

Availability

Both are live now for all customers using the modern editor. Open any email (or Page), and you’ll find the emoji picker in the toolbar and column border options in the column settings. Go give them a try!
