How to create employee influencers: a live discussion

Date: Originally aired on: April 22, 2026

There’s a real buzz around employees showing up authentically online – and organizations are starting to notice.

In the Workshop’s 2026 Internal Comms Trends Report, 41% of internal communicators said creating employee influencers is something they want to explore this year. But most of the content on this topic is built for external teams, leaving IC professionals without a clear playbook for how to get involved, let alone lead it.

Employee influencer programs work best when they start with the right people — employees who already want to share, who are building their professional voice, and who see value in showing up online. The role of internal comms isn’t to script the content, it’s to identify those voices, connect them to meaningful stories, and create the environment where sharing feels natural and worthwhile.

This panel gets into what employee influencer programs really look like in practice — and how internal comms can support (and shape) them from the inside out.

We’ll ask questions like:

  • How do you build an employee influencer program that actually works for employees – not just the brand?
  • How do you identify the right employees to activate without it feeling like extra work for them?
  • What motivates employees to share in the first place?
  • How do you activate employees as influencers without it feeling scripted or forced?
