These employee pulse survey questions are written to get to the heart of what employees are thinking and feeling about their work and the company. They're simply formatted from to rank responses from 1-5 and should be answered quickly and anonymously.
An employee pulse survey should be short! Choose 1-3 questions from this long list of potential questions to check in on a specific area of employee engagement, culture, management, or HR. Delete the others and make sure your form is simple and quick to complete. If you can, share your question in a format that’s super-fast and natural for employees to use (like an embedded email pulse survey in Workshop).
Consider the team members that you’re sending to. Does the question you chose make sense to ask all team members? Or is it really for a specific department or role level? Use audience segmentation as needed so you’re not asking any employees for irrelevant feedback.
Tailor your questions to your goals… ask questions that you’re sure you or leadership can do something with. If it’s just curiosity, consider waiting.
The pulse survey questions are divided into 6 different categories, with 3-7 questions in each. Employees will rank their responses to the question from 1 to 5, representing “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree.” This simple format is on purpose… to let the responder react and give you a quick answer. It’s a pulse, not an essay!
You’ll get access to a ready-to-use Google Forms document. To set up your own employee pulse survey, you can either copy the content to outside survey software, or customize this one by deleting the questions you’re NOT using. Google Forms does a nice job of showing you results after all your recipients have responded. Keep the primary employee pulse survey template handy, and use the different sections with different employee audiences throughout the year!
