Workshop’s evolving approach to AI
Over the last five years, we’ve built one of the leading internal communications platforms in the industry, trusted by more than 600 organizations around the world and powering over 250 million messages to employees. That scale didn’t happen because we followed a trend; it happened because we listened to our customers. One of our core values at Workshop is “We listen to learn,” and it’s guided every major product decision we’ve made since day one.
When we started Workshop, AI wasn’t exactly part of the conversation. In fact, when we surveyed our earliest customers, only about 7% said they were even curious about how AI might help them communicate better. Fast forward to today, and the landscape couldn’t look more different.
Our customers don’t just hope AI can help, they expect it to. And they put their trust in us to lead the way, including with AI.
But we never wanted to approach AI with a single “Ta-da! We launched AI!” announcement. Instead, we’ve been building with an AI-first mindset that touches every part of the product, from planning and personalization to how we help communicators craft, distribute, and measure their messages.
Through the blur of AI, we’ve stayed true to what we’ve always done best: helping internal communicators do their jobs with more clarity, creativity, and confidence. Today, in many cases, AI is the best way to do that.
Why AI matters for internal comms
If you’ve ever looked at your company’s engagement survey, you know the story: communication almost always shows up as one of the lowest scores, even at great companies. It’s not because comms teams don’t care, it’s because communication underpins everything, and the work is messy, fragmented, and repetitive.
That’s exactly where AI shines. Humans are brilliant at tone, trust, and context. AI is brilliant at shortening the path from idea to message, surfacing what’s working across huge data sets, and clearing the repetitive stuff off your plate.
Workshop is using AI to help you scale your expertise and build even more effective communications. Our goal is to layer AI right into your existing workflow so you feel the value in the places you already spend time.
What “Workshop AI” actually means
When we talk about Workshop AI, we’re not referring to a single feature or flashy new tab in the product. It’s our long-term strategy to make internal comms simpler, smarter, and more effective, using AI to support the communicator, not replace them.
Everything we’re building sits under one of three core themes designed to give you superpowers: content generation, data insights, and what we like to call workflow magic.
Content generation is all about helping you go from blank page to polished message faster than ever. Whether you’re drafting an announcement, simplifying a dense update, or generating visuals that bring your story to life, our tools are designed to help you move from idea to impact.
Data insights takes all the noise, the millions of data points across your emails, newsletters, and messages, and turns it into clear, actionable understanding. Instead of guessing what’s resonating, Workshop AI helps you see what’s working and where you can focus your time for the greatest impact.
And then there’s workflow magic, the small, everyday moments that quietly save you time. We’re weaving AI into the natural flow of your work so it feels less like a big technology shift and more like everything just works a little smoother.
While we have big plans across each of these themes, you can already leverage Workshop AI today:
- AI writing assistance and image generation right inside our editor
- AI subject line, preview text, and SMS writing tools
- One-click summaries of the performance of your emails
- AI-powered translation for conversational global comms
- Improved media management with AI-powered semantic search
- Simplified accessibility with AI-generated alt-text

Where Workshop AI is heading
Each of these areas — content, insights, and workflow — has an active roadmap behind it, and we’re moving fast.
In early 2026, we’ll introduce new ways to interact with your analytics. You’ll be able to use Workshop AI to explore, analyze, and uncover highlights or opportunities in your engagement data, all through natural conversation.
We’re also expanding our content generation strategy with the launch of the Workshop AI agent, a true creative partner that helps you build complete emails and pages from start to finish. Think of it as a teammate who helps you bring your ideas to life faster.
On the workflow side, we’re finding more ways for AI to quietly save you time. Workshop AI will help make sense of your content calendar, spot recurring themes, and even flag potential areas of email fatigue before they happen.
And of course, we’ll keep learning from your feedback and building the features that solve the problems you care about most.

Navigating AI with our customers
The wave of AI has hit everyone at once. It’s exciting, but also a little overwhelming. New tools are popping up daily, and it’s not always clear what’s real help versus pure hype. We get it, because we’re navigating it too.
Our goal isn’t just to build AI into Workshop, it’s to learn AI with you. Leading through our product is one thing; helping you feel confident using these tools is another. Both matter.
That’s why we’re investing in education as much as innovation. You’ll see more guides, conversations, and real-world examples from communicators already using Workshop AI to make their work simpler, smarter, and more effective.
We’re also already doing this. Here are a few resources to explore now:
- ChatGPT prompts for internal communicators — Whether you’re drafting an all-company announcement, planning a campaign, or gathering employee feedback, these ready-to-use prompts offer a simple starting point.
- ChatGPT prompts for employee newsletters — Similar, but structured just for use cases involving employee newsletters.
- AI Policy Template — A ready-to-customize policy for organizations on using generative AI: goals, allowed uses, legal/copyright concerns, etc.
- “AI ate my internal comms to-do list” — an incredible webinar we ran last year where Frank Dias went through his AI workflow for communicators in deep detail
And this is just the start. Our in-house experts are actively working on deeper courses, practical templates, and approachable use cases for AI now and in the future.
How to think about AI if you lead internal comms
Speaking of navigating AI, I imagine some of you are wondering how to take the first step. Even if you’re just starting to explore AI, here’s where I’d focus:
- Start with what you repeat. CEO updates, all-hands follow-ups, benefits reminders. Let AI draft; you fine-tune.
- Automate your reporting. If you’re still moving metrics into spreadsheets, that’s time AI can give back.
- Help your managers. AI summaries of long threads or updates make it easier for busy leaders to cascade key messages.
- Keep the human parts human. Recognition, sensitive news, and leadership notes still need your voice.
If AI doesn’t make your comms clearer, it’s not helping.
The bottom line
Workshop AI is another way we can help you create engaging communications. The goal isn’t to replace the craft of internal comms; it’s to give communicators more space to actually communicate, more time to think, write, and connect, and more room to be strategic partners.
At Workshop, that’s what “AI-first” really means. We’re not racing to add features for the sake of it, but we are focused on where AI can give you real superpowers. As AI keeps evolving, so will we. We’ll listen, we’ll experiment, and we’ll keep building alongside you, making sure that Workshop AI helps you do what you already do best: reach people, build trust, and move your company forward.
