Journeys can now add and remove people from lists automatically

Jamie Bell

Distribution lists

Journeys just got more powerful. You can now add or remove journey members from a list at any point in the sequence — automatically, in real time!

What’s new

Add to list. When a journey member reaches this step, they’re automatically added to an existing list. Use it to build attendee lists from event RSVPs, move engaged employees into a VIP segment, or tag people who’ve completed onboarding.

Remove from list. Same idea, opposite direction! Automatically remove members from a list at a specific point in the journey — keeping your distribution clean as people move through a sequence.

What this unlocks

Event RSVPs. Employees who respond to an event invitation get added to your attendee list automatically — and employees who opt out get removed.

Onboarding completion. When a new hire finishes your onboarding Journey, they’re added to your “all employees” communications list automatically.

Re-engagement. Remove unengaged employees from a high-frequency list.

Benefits enrollment. As employees confirm their enrollment through your Journey, they’re added to a “confirmed” list — so you can focus follow-ups on the people who haven’t acted yet.

What’s next

This is the first of several new action step types coming to Journeys. We’re expanding what Journeys can do beyond sending emails — so your automated sequences can handle the operational side of communications too. If you haven’t explored Journey templates or branching yet, those are great places to start.
