Our new home in Millwork Commons

Rick Knudtson

We are thrilled to announce that we get to call Millwork Commons our long-term home! Millwork Commons is a collaborative community for Omaha’s most innovative builders and creators in tech, design, art, and more. After a search, we were inspired by the vision of the Millwork team and their commitment to a long-term partnership. We believe it’s the best place for our team at Workshop to thrive and my partners and I are excited to watch our company evolve with the neighborhood.

Workshop’s office space, designed by DeOld Andersen, will be built on the second floor of the Ashton building. It will house our current team of 30 employees with plenty of room for us to grow. Work is already underway and is expected to be complete in late 2023.

The world of work has changed a lot over the last three years, and there are definitely some strong opinions and shifting views on office space.  But as we’ve grown, our team has spent more and more time in-office, and we’ve found that in-person collaboration has been invaluable to us building Workshop. Today, Workshop is flexible-first, with employees choosing to spend a few days each week in the office.

We were founded in 2020, when it was unclear if office space was key to success. For us, it has been an important advantage that has allowed us to move faster and do better work together. I truly believe it’s a huge part of our continued success and rapid growth, and it’s a major reason why we chose to invest in a forever-home in the city’s creative center.

Thank you to the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce for our earliest startup space in the Old Market, where the idea of Workshop took shape. Currently, we are set up with a temporary office at the HELLO Apartments (also located in Millwork Commons) while the Ashton office is built out.

And even though we’ve only been here for a few weeks, it’s easy to see that the energy in Millwork Commons is unmatched. We’re honored to work alongside really talented tech neighbors and agency friends, including Secret Penguin, Alpaca, WP Engine, and more. There’s real momentum here and I’m looking forward to more new neighbors to be announced soon!

Workshop is and will always be open to remote roles. (Today, 20% of our team is remote!) However, we are committed to continuing to grow our team and HQ in Omaha, and are currently hiring for several open positions. Join us!
